When is best to take?

After Exercise

If you perform any high intensity exercise we recommend it is best to consume 1 serving of Diet Shake 120 straight after exercise with water along with a banana. It is important to consume fast acting carbohydrates to replenish and replace energy lost during exercise. The protein is then spared for muscle recovery and repair. If you don’t supplement with protein after intense exercise your muscles will go into a catabolic state and any weight that is lost will be from muscle and not fat.

As a snack

Diet Shake 120 can be used in between meals to prevent cravings and snacking on the wrong foods. We recommend to have the shake with Almond or Soya milk to slow the digestion rate down and to fill you up more. We also recommend to have the shake with slow burning carbohydrates or good fats like EFA’s (essential fatty acids)
You can be creative with how you have your protein and below are a few suggestions.
1 servings of Diet shake 120 mixed with greek yoghurt, mixed berries and chopped nuts.
1 servings of Diet shake 120 mixed with low fat cottage cheese.
These examples are a balance of slow burning carbs, low sugar, good fats and high protein.
Along with this you should be following a balanced diet for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Here are examples of what foods to follow on a daily basis:

Brown Rice
Basmati (in moderation)
Sweet Potato
White Potato (best to have post exercise)
Butternut Squash

Coconut Oil
Fish oils
Low Fat Cottage cheese
Mixed nuts

Lean cut meets
Chicken without skin
Lean mince
Protein powder

The benefits of Proteins in your diet

To get the proper health benefits of protein, most people need about 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight each day. When additional demands are made on the body, such as in pregnancy or while recovering from an injury, more protein is needed to help the body. Children and teenagers also need additional protein to help with growth.

Without protein, the body would not be able to function properly. Various conditions could develop such as anemia and hypotension. Problems with circulation and healing from an injury would also occur. Because protein helps muscle, without it muscle mass may decrease and weakness can occur.

Protein drinks can increase the speed of recovery after a workout and help for body tone.
